Ruth Graham Siegrist was born in Richmond, Virginia, the fourth child of Lorenz and Ruth Graham. She spent her early years in Virginia.  When the family moved to the north she completed high school in Flushing, New York.  She graduated from Vassar College in 1953 with a B.A. degree in Psychology.  In 1955 Ruth and her husband moved to California where they settled and reared four children. Ruth Ruth returned to graduate school at California State University, Fullerton, where in 1975 she earned a Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Reading.  In 1978 she received a Ph.D. in Education from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.

Ruth joined the faculty at California State University, Fullerton, in the early 1970’s teaching undergraduate courses in Developmental Reading.  Later as professor of Reading Education she taught graduate classes in the Reading Master's Program. She also administered campus-wide programs in Educational Equity. Ruth delivered papers at professional conferences throughout the Southwest, authored numerous articles for professional journals, and co-authored a book entitled, Yes, Johnny Can Read: Matching Young Readers With Books.

Now retired, Ruth finds the current stage of her life fulfilling.  She has served as a Trustee on the Huntington Beach Library Board, and is a member of the Friends of the Children's Library.  She founded the library's Grandparents and Books program bringing older adults and children together through enjoyable reading experiences. Ruth is an Elder at St. Peter's By-the-Sea Presbyterian Church in Huntington Beach.  She is moderator of the Mission Outreach Team that oversees a variety of short and long term outreach projects as well as hunger and shelter programs both locally and internationally. Her life has been enriched by her travels worldwide.

While she is engaged in reviving the works of her late father, Lorenz Graham, she also enjoys storytelling and writing for children. Ruth speaks frequently at schools, churches, libraries, and authors festivals sharing stories from How God Fix Jonah and Graham's other books to audiences of all backgrounds and ages.  If you would like to inquire about a speaking engagement, contact Ruth at  grahambooks@aol.com
