              Welcome to Graham Books

I am Ruth Graham Siegrist, and I would like to present the literary works of my late father, Dr. Lorenz B. Graham.  Dr. Graham was a noted author of fiction and non-fiction children's literature dealing with Africa and African Americans.

Through his books, Lorenz Graham promoted understanding and acceptance of all people. His primary message was that "people are people." He believed that when this concept is embraced, great strides can be made toward establishing social and racial justice.

As literary executor of my father's estate, I seek to preserve his legacy by bringing his books back into print; making them available to this and future generations of readers.

Several well-known titles that were originally published in the 1940's have been revised and republished by Boyds Mills Press. Every Man Heart Lay Down poignantly retells the story of the birth of Christ in the Liberian idiom.  How God Fix Jonah, winner of a 2000 American Library Association Notable, is a beautiful collection of Bible stories retold in the idiom of West Africa. Recently Boyds Mills Press has reissued Graham's classic novels for young adults, known as the Town series. The novels South Town, North Town, Whose Town?, and Return To South Town chronicle the story of an African-American youth coming of age in an historic era of American History.

These books are currently available at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com
